Diversity and Inclusion Advisor at Kohl’s Corporate

Kobena-Marcus J. Collins is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He holds a B.A. in Secondary
Education and History from Lake Forest College, and earned a Master of Education in Cultural
Foundations of Education from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Kobena has held numerous positions in numerous organizations over the past decade, most notably as the National Director for Diversity Recruitment and the Recruitment Director for City Year Milwaukee, and most recently, prior to his current role, was the Diversity Recruiter for the City of Milwaukee. In this newly created position, Kobena was able to not only increase the Diversity of the applicant pills for jobs at The City, but helped user in the new ERGs and helped to develop a citywide ERG strategy.
Kobena is also passionate about diversity and inclusion. His ultimate goal is to be a Chief Diversity Officer/ VP of Diversity and Inclusion of a corporation, non-profit organization, or higher education institution. Having come from a multi-ethnic/ multicultural environment, and having the opportunity to travel to 10 countries in one semester with college students from around the world has given him a unique perspective that very few others in the world have. He has studied D & I best practices for the past six years and continues to gain new information from leaders around the country. He believes that one’s ability to grow is dependent upon their ABL-ity (A-lways B-e L-earning!)
